There are actually a bunch of things I want to torture you with, including (but not limited to) recent tutoring, my most recent parking ticket, the latest annoying job, how I forgot my wallet today, the generalized self-loathing that accompanies any personal essay, how late my Proactiv is, and my cat's worrying ability to chew on his own collar - but there is not sufficient time for me to ramble on about these things at the moment. I have to go to bed.

I have time for two things!

First, because I am a sucker for memes - Lurkers! Are there lurkers out there? If there are, hi! It would be cool to hear from you, possibly via a comment to this post. Posting anonymously is okay. I swear I'm not scary. I use my cute cat icon to demonstrate my lack of scariness.

[SPEAKING of the cute cat - he totally just crawled into my work bag and sat there for a few minutes, quite content, until it started to tip over veeeeery sloooowly, at which point he did not get out of the bag, but just sat there looking kind of desperate and terrified. I rescued him! Oh, if only I had a digital camera. The cuteness was off the charts. Moving on!]

Second, am I the only person who really disliked Sideways? It has, like, a 95% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and I feel like I must have been shown a different cut of the movie than other people. Or maybe I just have pedestrian taste. I am, for example, kind of looking forward to that ABC Family TV movie starring Ryan Reynolds, who starred in one of my favorite mediocre sitcoms of the recent past, Two Guys and a Girl.

And that is all.

Lurker? Please.

I prefer to think of myself as standing by with a silent, threatening sense of menace.

I definitely get that vibe from you.

I thought I was the only one who didn't like Sideways! All my friends were like "That movie was so good, it was like a metaphor for life and blah blibbidy blah."

Shana! I'm so relieved I'm not the only one who didn't like it. It was so mean! And not that funny! I think I extra-disliked it because it was supposed to be so amazing and it wasn't (for me) - that's probably not fair. But I can't help it!

I will be so mad if it wins awards next weekend.

hello! one bona fide lurker, reporting in. also, you're very funny and entertaining, and not scary at all.

your cat sounds awesome.

i haven't actually seen sideways, so i have nothing to say about it other than that it never seemed all that interesting, judging from trailers. i don't know what it says about *my* taste, but i adore ryan reynolds, and loved two guys and a girl entirely too much. pete and berg! <3!

I loooved Pete and Berg!! Berg a little bit more, I must confess. I almost went to see the most recent Blade movie because he was in it. I <3 Berg!

I'm glad I'm not scary! And thanks for saying nice things about my LJ and my cat. Also, that's a really cool icon.

Was Ryan Reynolds the guy named Berg? Loved Berg. Wasn't there a scary neighbor girl who was hopelessly in love with him? Or was that Pete she was in love with? My memory is going!

That's him...he's now engaged to Alanis. Which I find horribly cute because they are both refuges from odd Candian kids shows!

Jumping in here because I LOVED Fifteen. LOVED. Oh, the Nick glory days! I used to love all of those shows -- Welcome Freshmen, Roundhouse, Clarissa Explains it All. Memories!

Happy Belated Birthay, you! I hope you had a fantastic day.

And yes, Berg was played by Ryan Reynolds. The scary neighbor was Irene, the girl I'm afraid of becoming (crazy cat lady living alone, creating scary romantic fixations on nearby males). But they kind of de-crazied her a bit at the end of the series, edging her more towards the eccentric and giving her a cute little romance with Berg. Irene + Berg 4eva!

Thanks, Jess!

I stopped watching the series after what's-her-name-Val-from-90210 showed up. Well, it wasn't because of her really. Awww, I missed the de-crazied Irene and Berg romance.

I have been a fearless temp myself (and will be again, I am sure), and I really like your choice of icons, but mainly I lurk because I find your anecdotes fascinating and hilarious. (How off-putting does that sound?! Sorry.) Anyway, my all-time favorite has to be the time you and your brother watched your dad's booth at the art show.

The art show! It's so funny, my brother called right after I got this comment and we spent about ten minutes reliving that and other crazy art-related events my father has drafted us for. Ah, memories!

Thank you so much for the kind comment, which was not at all off-putting but instead made me quite happy! I was all grinny when I got it and I'm smiling while I'm typing this. Thank you for that.

I can only post anonymously because I'm a very rich and very famous and very hot movie star, and posting my real name would cause mayhem in your journal. Lurking is my only way of keeping an eye on you until I finalize my plan to kidnap you and whisk you off to my chalet in the south of France forever and ever.
From: [identity profile] fearlesstemp.livejournal.com
Though I am curious, I must defer to your judgment; we would not want any mayhem. I look forward to the day when we can finally be together - also known as the day we finally meet. But I just have one question - can I bring my cats?

Hello! I am not so much a lurker, since this is the first post of yours I have read since I friended you yesterday upon the divine [livejournal.com profile] kaelie's recommendation.

Also, I co-run a film-review Web site and community (*pimp mode* AboutFilm.com *end pimp mode*), and most of the folks there thought it was a decent--but unremarkable and entirely unworthy of its near-unanimous critical praise--movie. Our main critic labelled it "a giant wank by schlubby writers for schlubby writers about schlubby writers." Which I think pretty well encapsulates it.

Hi! Nice to meet you and all that jazz. Your icon is fabulous.

Our main critic labelled it "a giant wank by schlubby writers for schlubby writers about schlubby writers."

Oh my God. That is a perfect description for the movie. Perfect! And also, what an awesome website! I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time there . Thanks for the link!

Thank you for the icon love! It was my very first icon, and actually adorns my bio at the site. I adore all your classic movie icons (double entendre intended), as one would expect me to. Especially the Fred & Ginger. I am a huge Ginger Rogers fan. Vastly underrated actress, she. I'm so glad you enjoyed the site and plan to visit again. Our community is small but knowledgeable and entertaining, so do jump in if you're into that sort of thing!

As as incentive, should you be betting in Oscar pools, lay your cash on "Downfall" for best foreign language film. I have excellent opinions that it should win.

I'm actually going to an Oscars party and plan on using your inside info to fill out my predictions - I will wow them all! Thanks muchly. :)

Thank you! I love Ginger Rogers too, though I've seen so few of her movies out of the Astaire/Rogers ones. I remember loving Stage Door, and I caught a few minutes of Kitty Foyle (is that the name of the one she got the Oscar for?) but other than that, not so much. Should remedy that!

And I will definitely be visiting your site, and possibly jumping in! Thanks again for the link.

Ryan Reynolds is going to be in a TV movie? Tell me more.

It was on tonight on ABC Family but they rerun stuff all the time so it should be on again - he played a hip history teacher who inspired the kids! When I tuned in, he was telling the kids that it should be called "His- and Her-Story" - aw! Ryan!

I think it was shot a couple of years ago and not released, possibly because it sucked. I didn't get to watch all of it so cannot offer critical judgment, but it looked kind of cutely corny to me.

Wait! You're getting proactiv. Tell me what you think of it, when you get it, and if it works or if it's just some silly tv thingy. If I'm thinking of the right thing?

Proactiv! I actually really love Proactiv - Vanessa Williams and Jessica Simpson aren't lying to you, it is a good product (or at least it is for me). Until I started using it, my skin broke out a LOT, and it's really quieted down. Not only that, my breakouts tend to take less time to clear up, which is v. thrilling. I do recommend!

Oh, excellent. I was convinced by a late-night infomercial, then cringed when I realized I'd been convinced by a late-night infomercial. I will try it - thank you so much.

Have I commented before? I can't remember! I always have stuff to say, but I forget to come back and comment. Senile at age 26. So sad. But I'm commenting now, and I will definitely remember this. Hi! Your posts always make me smile because some of that stuff happens to me too (the thing with the stain on the shirt at the party? O.M.G.) but somehow it seems vastly more interesting and, well, cooler when you retell it.

Vanessa Williams and Jessica Simpson aren't lying to you

This makes me ridiculously sad. But yay for clear skin, or something.

I'm the same way about commenting! I always mean to make about three times as many comments as I actually do. But anyway, hi! Thanks for dropping in and saying hello, and for saying nice things about my entries. I am especially glad to hear from a fellow spill-prone person. We must stay united against the coordinated, well-dressed establishment!
