Neither is the comfy clothes or the sitting or the way the humans keep smiling in its general direction. The smiling, it suspects, will stop, if/when they realise their SecUnit has suffered some sort of catastrophic glitch and has no idea where it is or the specifics of its current assignment. So it's not going to let them find out. // 14K. Pretty good! The source of the issue makes sense as well, so it's not just a handwavey sort of deal.

Ostensibly the basic premise is that our hero was an extremely autistic pharmacology researcher from China who died and got transmigrated into a xianxia novel with a system directing him that his mission was to save the "protagonist shou" from his terrible fate. Not being a danmei fan, his ability to successfully identify the protagonist shou from a lineup is, alas, not as high as he thought it was.
However. There are a stunning number of layers to this story, almost nothing in the basic premise turns out to be true, and this is an absolutely breathtaking story about trauma, recovery, healing, and breaking cycles of violence.

The Demon Lord Has a Cat Now - 少予

Upon opening his eyes, he found himself in the “jumping-off-a-cliff” scene. In the original plot, he didn’t dare to jump—he was just bluffing to guilt-trip the people who once doted on him.
Everyone knew he wouldn’t jump, so they didn’t even spare him a glance.
Yu Yan jumped. Why? Because he knew his chance for a comeback was at the bottom of that cliff!
Down there was the novel’s ultimate villain, the Demon Lord Duan Lin. Armed with the knowledge that the Demon Lord was a certified fluff enthusiast, Yu Yan transformed into a cute little kitten and acted like he owned the place.
At first, of course, the Demon Lord was suspicious. He gave a chilling warning:
“If I find out you’re a human in disguise, you’re dead.”
But Yu Yan’s acting skills were top-notch. He played the part of an adorably clueless kitten so well that the Demon Lord ended up pampering him to the heavens.
Yu Yan’s plan was simple: take advantage of the situation and absorb the mysterious spiritual energy hidden in the depths of the cliff. With it, he could ascend and turn his fate around.
Unfortunately, ten years passed in the blink of an eye. Yu Yan had scoured every inch of the cliff but still couldn’t find his golden ticket. Instead, the Demon Lord started acting… off.
“Idiot, after all the spiritual pills you’ve eaten, you still can’t transform.”
“Why haven’t you taken human form today?”
“Are you too dumb to cultivate?”
“You’re not allowed to die!”
Yu Yan, the noble cat overlord, was rudely shaken awake. Annoyed, he meowed: Who keeps spreading rumors I’m dead? I’m just sunbathing! For the thousandth time, I’m not dead!
Faced with the Demon Lord’s increasingly extreme attempts at “raising” him, Yu Yan finally transformed into his human form… right in the Demon Lord’s arms. For a brief moment, Yu Yan swore he saw the Demon Lord blush.
Though Yu Yan knew his lies would be exposed as soon as he left the cliff, he couldn’t help but enjoy it when the Demon Lord, back on the surface, grabbed the protagonist and snarled:
“You imposter! Where’s my cat?! Where did you hide my precious cat?!”
Yu Yan thought to himself, This feels amazing.
