My name is Sue! HOW DO YOU DO?

LiveJournal! I HAVE MISSED YOU! I have been on a series of vacations which provided limited internet access, but now I am BACK and more able to read/comment other people's entries and torture you all with the minutiae of my daily life.
About my vacations! I want to write about them in great detail, but it is late and I am tired so I will subject all of you to vacay tales later. One thing I will tell you about now is how my trip to California introduced me to Johnny Cash's awesomeness, as
foxyfrau will tell you (she was forced to hide the CD because I put it in the car CD player so often while I was out there), and while I appreciate many of his songs, my favorite still is A Boy Named Sue (the lyrics of which were written by Shel Silverstein, fyi). While surfing YouTube, what did I find but a clip of Mr. Cash recording the song at San Quentin?
And so I share with all of you!

Date: 2007-07-12 04:33 am (UTC)I don't know how I missed Johnny's awesomeness, either! My musical background is embarrassingly spotty, to be honest. I'm almost glad of it, though, because I get to make discoveries like this one - it's a great feeling, one I probably wouldn't have at my age if I'd been more well-versed in good music!

Date: 2007-07-11 10:40 am (UTC)This video is awesome. Now I know what they bleeped out on the CD. Thanks for the tidbit about Shel Silverstein - I didn't know that he wrote the song, but it is clearly his style.
It was awesome having you here! I have been looking through the photos - what fun was had! I miss you, and I need someone here to make me go to bed. Don't even look at the time stamp. Just know that if you were still in school, you'd probably be up by now.
Ok, off to bed!

Date: 2007-07-12 04:38 am (UTC)I had SUCH AN AMAZING TIME in California, you have NO IDEA. I can't stop talking about it to everyone out here. You are the most awesome friend ever for letting me come out there and the most amazing tour guide ever. Basically, you're just great!
I've heard it said: People either like Anna, or they don't know her. IT'S SO TRUE.
Also: I'm reading an interesting book right now, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I'm only halfway through it but I think you might like it.
Also Part II: We talked about it a while ago, but what are your thoughts about a trip next summer honoring our ten year friend anniversary? I know I just came home from this trip, but I WANT MORE! I'd like to go to the Grand Canyon, but I think you've been there. Italy? France? Hawaii? Is there anything in the middle of the United States that's interesting? I'd probably be interested in driving across the country, actually. Let's start thinking about it.

Let's keep this as an option.
