Ned Beatty, yay! I totally want to check out the original - I keep forgetting to put it in my Netflix queue and actually almost bought it sight unseen at Target today (but I was strong! I'm trying to curb my Target impulse buying). I love Gene Hackman, too, probably enough to overcome annoyance over comedic stuff.
I actually loved the last flying shot at the end, with him going out into space - I think the stuff that got me a little cheesed out was when they did close-ups of him flying, where you're looking into his face while he's zooming around. Those ones that look like he could have just been filmed against a background painted to look like the sky?
