An hour from now, if I haven't done at least two more things on my to-do list, well, I am just plain NOT ALLOWED to watch the second half of The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold before I go to bed. NOT ALLOWED. I am declaring this PUBLICLY.

Fun fact: The guy who wrote the orginal Cutting Edge also wrote the screenplays for The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy. How could these three films have sprung from the same brain? To me, the only thing tying them together is the fact that I love each of them so very much.

OFF TO DO WORK.

ETA: I totally did the two things! Also, edited post a bit to clarify something.

um. not to be nitpicky . . . okay, fine, to be a nitpicky *freak*: the guy who wrote The Cutting Edge wrote the *screenplays* for the Bourne movies, and not the novels on which the movies are based. I feel the need to point this out because I love those books as much as I love The Cutting Edge, which is omgsomuch.

I totally have omgsomuch love for The Cutting Edge! And though I am a person who entered the Bourneverse via Matt Damon and haven't read the books (I bought one of them at a used bookstore, but for some reason couldn't get into it - perhaps the lack of Matt Damon?), I did mean to make it clear that I was just talking about the movies. I guess I just can't reconcile the two styles - the super-sophisticated-action-movie and cheesy-romantic-sports-flick.

omg i'm sorry for being such an OCD freak in your lj! it's disappointing to hear that you couldn't get into the books; The Bourne Identity remains one of my favorites of all time (though, yes, matt damon does tend to make things better).

it *is* hard to reconcile the two styles! but it seems to prove that nothing goes with sports-centric romantic comedy like super-slick action.

OMG, you so don't have to apologize! It totally read like I didn't realize there were Bourne books before the movies, and that is an important thing to point out. I just hope my reply to your first comment didn't come out all, "Well, DUH, I KNEW that!" I was afraid it sounded snotty - I hope it didn't! I heart getting comments!

I am totally going to give the Bourne books another try once I finish up the school year.

There's a Cutting Edge 2? I love the original. I used to think D.B. Sweeney was so dreamy. I have to rent this flick soon.

There is, but no DB! Isn't that sad? The new sequel is on the Family channel and is very cheesy. I still haven't seen the ending but what I saw I enjoyed.

So how awful is Cutting Edge 2? We have it on ye olde dvr, but have not watched it yet. Would you be able to compare it to the movie, "If Only"?

Dude, I totally would. Are you the other person in the country who watched If Only? I can't believed I listened to all of those JLH songs (but I totally did).

This movie was about as cheesy, but had a happier ending (natch!) - I am basing this on the little bit I saw of the ending while I was flipping through the channels to other things. I sat down and watched the first hour and taped the rest to watch later, and then promptly taped over the second half with an episode of GH, so I still havne't seen the movie come to its conclusion. But what I saw was a cheesy delight!

We have watched it and there is one thing that comes to mind:

It would have been WAY better with DB Sweeney.

But yes, we watched If Only. And it was bad. It is the new measure of all things bad. (I believe that heleish saw, it, too.)

Oh, Cutting Edge 2 was on already? I missed it. Is it bad? Good? Pales to the original by comparison?

Hello, Stealth Minnie!

The new version is pure cheese - the new actors can't live up to DB/Moira, but the basic elements of the story are all there. What I saw, I really enjoyed.

Seconded! This guy is obviously a genius.
