A posse of screaming Russians just left the building. This is good because they are no longer talking at top volume outside my door and bad because they somehow set off the prop alarm downstairs on their way out. I know they did this because I heard their drunken, accented cavorting just before the high-pitched door alarm went off. Good times.

I assume they were here visiting my neighbor across the way, A. (usually I'm too lazy to do the initial thing but here I will since I will be imparting somewhat sensitive information -- though no one who reads this will care and she's graduating anyway so it doesn't really matter....but indulge me in my paranoia). A is an interesting gal, Russian though she lives in NYC now, I've gathered. She is interesting bundle of contradictions, evidenced by the following. She:

(a) wears at least four outfits a day

and

(b) owns approximately six outfits.

How, you ask, is this done? Quite simply, actually. She wears four outfits a day and then re-wears most of them the next day, but at different times. So her 9Am to noon outfit on Monday could be her 6PM to 10Pm outfit on Tuesday. It's interesting.

She also:

(a) Rarely showers (which is probably a cultural difference, and just fine by me, but only interesting to me because of (b))

and

(b) Constantly has guys after her. Guys love her, despite the fact that she's standoffish and not that friendly and doesn't shower. It makes me wonder if I should give up on the whole bathing-every-day thing and start walking around with my nose in the air.

The guys thing is particularly interesting, as she, at last count, has three regular visitors:

(1) A Russian professor that was let go last year,

(2) A Russian exchange student who walks with a jaunty skip that my roommate is able to recreate quite skillfully but that I still cannot master,

and

(3) Oliver, the pothead who lives downstairs. They tend to sit in her room and listen to classical music. It's very strange, as whenever I walk by Oliver's room it's always blasting Eminem.

Anyway, it's intriguing. I'm going to somewhat miss her next year, because she was an interesting neighbor to have, what with the former professors sneaking out of her room in the middle of the night and the frequent costume changes. I feel like going up to her sometime in the next week and just asking what her life is like. Why, exactly, do I run into her getting ready to go out on a Tuesday night at 3Am when I'm just going to bed? What's the deal with all the guys? Are you why the Russian prof got fired?

Since now she barely answers my "hello" when I see her in the hallway, I doubt my questions will ever be asked or answered. Ah well. What's life without a little mystery, right?

Ah, I saw Moulin Rouge tonight. Cool movie, very entertaining. Survived my last shift at work (woohoo!) which I very may talk about in another entry.

Enough rambliness for now.
