The internet is such a black hole. It swallows up my good intentions and academic drive to succeed. I came here for the specific purpose of digging up gossip about Genghis Khan, and yet somehow I find myself sitting here forty minutes later, typing up an LJ entry, after spending ten minutes desperately searching out General Hospital spoilers (after spending twenty minutes reading a variety of threads on TWoP, and checking my flist, and reading Dwight Schrute's blog), and do I have any new gossip about Genghis Khan? No! No, I do not!

Old gossip about Genghis Khan: I watched his A&E Biography yesterday, and it strongly implied that he and the head of another clan were an item. The Biography special didn't say it straight out, of course; Dramatic Intonation Guy said, "'Genghis and [Other Clan Leader] were said to be great friends, closer than brothers. They slept together in the same bed for one and a half years, making Genghis's wife jealous.' - The Secret History of the Mongols."

It ended like so many love stories do: With one taking over a good chunk of Eurasia, and the other being brought before him to be executed. Genghis, the old softy, had to leave the room while his old pal was being killed. A shocking show of sentimentality, considering he killed his brother over a fish when he was thirteen or so.

ENOUGH ABOUT GENGHIS KHAN!

I really think it's important that more people watch General Hospital and talk to me about how adorable Patrick and Robin are. I don't know why I find them so cute, but I do. I want them to bicker and fight viruses together and I want one of them to fall victim to the man-made mutant strain of encephalitis (these are all words that have often been used on GH recently), and I want the other to stand by all nervous, and wonder Why He/She Did Not Realize How Much He/She Mattered. Is that so much to ask? Is it? I'm being forced to watch Emily pant after Sonny! Give me something, GH! I've given you almost eleven years of uninterrupted viewing! Have you no reciprocal loyalty?

I am so totally the lame one between the two of us - I have all this schoolwork to do and have put off things like attending social events and hanging out with friends because School Is More Important, but apparently School Is Not More Important Than General Hospital.

That said! I am very happy to spread my lameness! There's a lot of stuff out there and I can't tell how much of it is accurate - partly because this virus storyline is moving so fast! But here's what I've got (note that I'm including almost exclusively spoilers for the storylines I watch - hence very little Emily or Sonny stuff).

-Sam is going to turn out to be someone's long-lost daughter (of course), and right now the rumors are split between: Alexis's, Holly's (she was on the show ages ago and is coming back in a couple weeks), or Nikolas's twin. I'm rooting for Alexis and Sam as mother/daughter, myself.

-Tony, Danny, and Courtney (huzzah!) are going to die from the man-made mutant strain of encephalitis (MMSOE).

-Maxie is going to have a heart attack becuase of the MMSOE and Nikolas will try to save her! Does this mean impending romance? I think they're running out of actresses for Tyler Christopher or something.

-Lulu will have a crush on Dillon. (I heart Lulu, and I heart Dillon, but for some reason am unsure of them together. But Georgie and Dillon have gotten kind of old for me. I don't know.)

-Carly is going to be purposefully injected with the MMMSOE!

-And Robin will also get the MMMSOE, which will (I hope) lead to many woeful glances from Patrick and angsty scenes with her father, or something. But this is complicated by the fact that Liz will think that Lucky has died at some point next week, and will turn to Patrick for comfort, and there will be kissing! I am hoping this will be used only as a cheap dramatic device to make Robin realize how much she really likes Patrick. Because I've totally gone OTP on Robin/Patrick.

-Oh! I just read something saying that Carly would help Jax raise Courtney's baby (I love this).

-Also, the person behind the MMMSOE may be Helena Cassadine. Awesome!

All right, now I am intrigued about Genghis and his torrid gay affair. But onto GH:

What do you think of the newest Carly? I stopped watching after TB left and cannot bring myself to go back. (They murdered my OTP, damn it.)

Who is Danny? Lucky's partner?

If Sam turns out to be Alexis's daughter, that means both mother and daughter were at one time impregnated with the Spawn of Sonny. Gross.

Carly and Jax raising Courtney's baby does sound cute, but isn't Nikolas the father?

There's a MMMSOE in town and Emily doesn't die? Where is the justice?

I actually like the newest Carly a lot! I don't know if I like her as much as I liked TB or SB, but she's pretty good. Not as bad as the Carly that immediately preceded her, at least. I'm looking forward to the baby-raising story because think she's got good chemistry with Jax (I think TB had good chemistry with him, too. She had good chemistry with everyone - I found an old tape the other day with a Zander/Carly scene on it. I totally forgot that they had an almost-romance-thing!).

Danny is Sam's developmentally disabled younger brother, who pops up from time to time so that Sam can have something to do other than stare tearfully at Jason. He's totally a redshirt in the MMMSOE story.

And I think you're right about Nikolas being the father of Courtney's baby, now that you mention it. When did Jax become so baby-obsessed? What is up with that? Isn't he a billionaire? Couldn't he hire a harem of women to have his children?

Somehow I missed this comment long ago. Jax became baby-obsessed after Brenda damaged him for life! He said goodbye to his days as a playboy and became focused on True Luv, complete with babies!

I would totally like to see Jax with a harem, though. You know they would all look like Brenda.

Oh, thank god, Courtney's baby will be born. I am happy. I swear, one night I tossed and turned thinking that General Hospital is not building three years' from now teen scene! We've got Morgan, Christina, Molly and Cameron. We need kids who aren't Sonny's or Alexis's! Courtney's baby must be born!

Though, I swear, they break up Dillon and Georgie and I'm coming for their children. They are not old and tired to me!

Everything else sounds exciting, though I really don't see the age thing when it comes to Sam and Alexis.

Dude, GH totally needs to diversify the gene pool of the next generation! Cameron is, like, the only under-seven kid on there not genetically related to Sonny. Craziness!

As for the Sam/Alexis thing - I don't know if the ages work out, but I'm willing to squint and make it work (I. On AMC recently they had a mother/son story where the actress playing the mother was actually younger than the son. Ah, the wacky world of soaps.

I think they're arguing somewhere that Alexis is over 35 and Sam is supposed to be, what, in her twenties? If you squint hard it works even if the actors are only maybe ten years apart.

And seriously, diverse gene pool! Even though Courtney's child will be Morgan's cousin. Really, they need Elizabeth and Lucky to breed, as well as, say, Patrick. Those two new children should be a nice seed for the next generation. You know, in six years.

That is a very good point! And honestly, I could actually think of a few people I would kill over a fish at this point. Really, the Biography video does not give Genghis's side of the story - perhaps this was just the last in a long string of fish-related fratricidal fights. Perhaps ole Genghis was just misunderstood.

The plague storyline is fun, but geez, the writing is even worse. "I made an unethical decision and will step down." GAH. I'll sit through anything for Robert, though, even knowing what will come later on for him. My only daughter, indeed.

Patrick and Robin are very cute. I wonder if they will save Luke as he heads into hypovolemic shock. *snortgiggle*

Dude, the writing pretty crappy - I guess I've set the bar so low for GH that I don't even ask for good writing to really enjoy the show! :) I'm glad that I'm not alone in finding Patrick and Robin cute - I'm just so happy to have a couple to root for on the show. I don't know when that last happened - the early days of Jason and Sam, maybe? Or Dillon and Georgie?

I will be so so so so sad if Tony dies, you have no idea. :( Danny pisses me off by existing (wearing a baseball cap and backpack to signify special needs makes my blood boil!), so I don't mind him or Court. Maxie and Nik? ACK! LOL My mom totally called the Helena thing, which is totaly awesome.

Sam as a Cassadine has been bantered about since she joined the show, sadly. I'm guessing Holly/Robert's kid, based on all of RObert's "My only daughter" lines about Robin. Subtlety is not their forte. *g*

Eeek about Lulu/Dillon (also, hello, stepsiblings. LOL), but Robin/Patrick/Liz could be interesting. Although it speaks poorly of Liz to be kissing a guy because she thinks her beloved hubby is dead. But there's not much good to say about Liz anyway, so, well, bring it on. LOL
