And I, myself, am always late, and think it's an egregious character flaw as well, but I just! I just can't get my act together. I think it's because the one area of my life in which I am optimistic is how long it will take me to put myself together.
I know!! Isn't it an awful thing? I mean, it's always so STRESSFUL and I hate it but I still can't change! I don't think I'll ever fully understand it but you're totally right, the drastically overly-optimistic estimates of how long it will take me to get ready are definitely at the root of it. Ditto with driving time -- it's ridiculous! Okay, so *one time* I made it to work in sixteen minutes. Now I assume that that's how long it will take me, even though almost every other morning it takes between twenty and twenty-five -- and isn't this riveting? The point is: I need to get my act together!
