1. Clueless is the best mood altering drug ever. It made me wonder: Without Clueless, would we have had Legally Blonde (another personal fave of mine)? If so, props to Amy Heckerling for pioneering the ditzy-yet-smart fashion-conscious blonde + adorable, slightly-bookish brunette = RomCom Brilliance formula. Possible predecessor: The Christina Applegate flick from the late eighties, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, and possibly Born Yesterday.

2. I love The OC. LOVE IT. And I mean "love" in the most important sense of the word -- there is no reason or logic. I don't care if there are plot holes or if it's cheesy or how badly the main guy fake-smokes a cigarette. I LOVE IT. You know the main romance most people will find lame and uncool? Yeah, I totally dig it. And! Ryan and Seth's little friendship? SO ADORABLE. I kind of teared up a bit at the end when he came home to an empty, abandoned house. Shut up. It was moving!

3. I caught Jerry Maguire on TNT the other night and loved it even more than I remember loving it when I saw it like seven times in the winter of 1996/1997. I seriously think Tom Cruise gives a great performance in this movie. Shut up. He does! And no matter how many times I see it, I still crack up when he screams, "I'm Mr. Black People!" into the phone.

4. Other rediscovered fabulousness: Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Caught Shall We Dance on TCM the other day and couldn't leave the room until it was over. God, those movies were BRILLIANT. They tap dance on roller skates! And are witty and funny and sexy and sweet! And the songs are great! I went through a period of intense Rogers/Astaire love in high school and remember Swing Time as my favorite and must go rent it asap.

And that's all that's fit to type in this update box.

I've seen a few posts in people's LJs about friending policies and the like, and I thought hey! Another opportunity to talk about myself! Score!

1. My friending policy is this: I friend back everyone who friends me, but certainly don't expect everyone to have the same policy. Meaning if I friend you, I'm not all pissy if you don't friend me back. I don't know if I'd friend me, considering my long-ass posts about nothing in particular. I also generally don't use a filter so I do keep up on all the people's LJs on my friends list, though I'm kind of shy about commenting.

2. Anyone is welcome to friend me, though they should be aware that my LJ consists mainly of long-winded rambles about the following topics: NSYNC in general and JC Chasez in particular; my two cats; my boring jobs and/or the quest for a new boring job; family anecdotes; the many and varied critters that pop up around my house; my TV obsessions; Lionel Richie; the many times I fall down; and last, but certainly not least, my moderately ghetto electric blue station wagon.

3. I friends lock a fair number of posts, usually because I'm paranoid about RL people reading them. Like, if I make a passing snide remark about someone I knew in the tenth grade, even though I know he or she would never want or need or try to track me down on the internet, I would feel bad about hurting their feelings in the odd chance they would and so bam! Friends lock goes up.

4. I'm late and forgetful about replying to comments, which is one of my (many) lesser qualities. Does it help that I feel very, very guilty about being late in replying? And even more guilty when I forget? There are actually several comments I'm thinking about right now that I haven't replied to (but meant to) and am feeling quite guilty about. Regardless of my shoddy replying record, I appreciate them all.

5. And that's it. I think.
