Was just at the cashier's office doing the treasurer thing when I discovered -- lo and behold! -- the fifth page to my take home sociology final I handed in on Monday! In a word: shit!

I just sent off an e-mail to professor apologizing for my stupidity with the page enclosed. Here's hoping she takes it.

I'm actually feeling surprisingly non-stressed over it. What's done is done. She'll take it or she won't. Nothin' I can do now.

A girl I knew in high school just IMed me -- odd. Must end entry so that I can devote all of my energy to coming up with small talk. And finding out some gossip about my former classmates. :)

relief!

Prof just e-mailed me: page was already in the final I handed in on Monday. Must have somehow printed out two copies of that page for some reason. Odd.

Phew. Off to wrestle more gossip out of former classmate.

I have been packing and, in doing so, have discovered that I am a Gross Disgusting Person. Roommate just came over to wipe a colony of dustbunnies off of my shoulder from my foray under the bed to gather the assorted crap there. It was somewhat frightening. All this is especially disturbing since I only have to glance across the room to see how I should have done everything by looking at my roommate's packing methods -- organized piles, actual boxes to put stuff in instead of CVS bags. You know what I mean.

So, I leave here sometime tomorrow. I'm probably kidding myself in thinking that I won't be back here to whine some more before I go, but let's all pretend like I'll be a Good Motivated Person and spend the next day or so steadfastly packing and getting ready to go.

My junior year is done and my time in this residence hall goes with it. It has been a good year, mostly because my roommate and I really get along and had a blast. I haven't become close with anyone on our hall, but will miss wondering about them. The main attractions were, in no particular order,

(1) Anastasie, who was mentioned in an earlier entry

(2) Mark and Joe. They were my next door neighbors since the start of winter term and theirs was a saga of hate and love, bitterness and reconciliation, stankiness and cleanliness. Mark had a roommate fall term, Christopher, who was a massive pothead who pretended to be all ghetto but drove a brand new Audi. He bolted after Christmas and Joe arrived. At first, they were oil and water. Hated each other. Mark had a girlfriend who lived in the room -- never went home. While the girlfriend was around (all winter term and a good part of spring term) they didn't get along AT ALL. Joe was relatively neat and Mark would apparently leave Cup o Soup containers around half-eaten for weeks. You can imagine the stench (it invaded the whole hall often) -- even I'm not that gross. They were engaged, it seems, in a messages war, where they refused to give phone messages to each other. It was brutal.

Then: the girlfriend bolts. Roomie heard a big fight a couple weeks into spring term, and we never saw her again. Suddenly, the tension vanishes. We see mark and Joe walking around together, all buddy buddy. Sitting next to each other at one desk. Wake up in the morning to find an empty beer box outside their door. Roommate and I came to only logical conclusion: Mark and Joe are obviously embroiled in a torrid romance. The girlfriend's departure allowed them to recognize the love that dare not speak its name. I wish them well.

(3) Shanga, just because he's a fellow Mets fan.

(4) Tally, because she was funny and brutally honest with her opinions

(5) Vicki, who was only here fall term but is remembered now. She was on a term abroad from England and IMs me occasionally and always sounds impossibly British in them. I would give you an example but I'm having a brain fart there. Maybe later.

(6) Betsy, who also left after fall term, but is remembered now because she keeps coming back. I told my roommate that should I ever return to this dorm to relive happy fun times that she is fully empowered to stage an intervention. I mean, it's not like we're a big socially active floor. We're mostly juniors and seniors who don't need the floor solidarity freshmen have. Anyway, she always had good gossip but was very catty.

(7) Ola and Tumi, who were both very nice and good buddies like my roomie and me.

and

(8) Francesco, who was nice and is remakrable because he looks exactly Richard Fish from Ally McBeal

So, now I will be leaving them.

I'm going to miss this room. It saw a lot of good times -- nights spent challenging roomie to free cell games, watching good movies, watching bad movies, singing along to our winamps at top volume, talking about everything until all hours, laughing till it was hard to sit up. I'll miss it.

Now I must dismantle it and put it in bags! (It would sound better to say "put it in boxes" but, well, I don't have boxes. So go with it.)

Packing! Now! Despite the apparent impossibility of the task!
