jc, wings, mets, work, and a different world
Yesterday I brought my JC calendar into the computer/exercise room and thought: you know, it would be funny if I put this up on the wall in front of the treadmill so that it would seem like I was walking toward JC, to join him in Magical Calendar Land, where the lighting is always good and JC is everywhere. And then I didn't because, hey, it's a family space, don't want to force others to stare at JC (as pleasant an experience I find that to be). And then! Today! I got on the treadmill and what's hanging right in front of me but APRIL JC!! My father must have hung it up when he found it lying on the floor and put it there for me! I laughed so hard that I almost fell off the treadmill when I saw it. Aw, my Dad. He is so oddly sweet.
Breaking news: Wings is on Nick at Nite now! WINGS! I know it's probably a horrible show, but I remember it so fondly. Why? Well, mostly because it was the first show I remember watching that seemed to showcase how utterly boring most people's lives are. Set on Nantucket instead of some big fast-paced city! I recall fondly the episode where everyone got super-excited about ordering THE BIG SANDWICH (one of those huge, fifteen-foot ones) from a local sub place for some party. When you got the big sandwich, it was really an event! That is/was so my life.
And Antonio dating Edna the Big Faced Girl! Brian with his loud obnoxious shirts! And Lowell! And the episode where Joe and Helen were supposed to get married and the whole episode Lowell kept saying, "You know, MacGyver could fix this with a twistie tie, a piece of gum, and a pear" about every problem they faced.
And wow, talking about the show is even more boring than watching it, isn't it? Moving on!
Well, one more thing. Discussing Lowell made me remember Ned & Stacey, which I LOVED and still mourn as one of those fabulous shows that vanished after one season and broke my little TV-obsessed heart. Like Cupid! I loved Cupid.
In non-TV-related doings, work this week was pretty heinous. Busy busy busy all week, and I'm discovering that my tolerance for my coworkers goes into a somewhat frightening free-fall whenever things get busy at work. Today I actually found myself sing-songing "I am going to kill someone" under my breath at my desk. Blessedly, I was alone (actually the source of said sing-songing, because everyone left early and I was the only one left and I always HATE that. Because I'm petty and feel like if everyone else gets to leave, I should get to leave too, dammit, even if my work isn't done.), so no one heard me. Thank goodness.
In other news: Mets won tonight, which was pretty fabulous, especially since it was David Cone pitching. Also, it was just funny to see all of the baseball players bundled up but still playing. So tough! And!! Jeromy Burnitz continues to actively not suck! That makes me so happy! I love to see them doing well. My father continues to holler that they should trade Mo Vaughn and Robbie Alomar for bats and balls, but I'm keepin' the faith. Mo got a home run tonight! They'll bounce back! Eventually.
Holy crap, A Different World is on Oxygen? It's like I'm reliving my childhood through television shows! Holy crap! Loved this show. Dwayne Wayne! With his oh-so-cool flip glasses! I seriously thought those were just The Coolest Things Ever. Thank God I never thought myself cool enough to actually wear them myself because wow, that could have led to some serious psyche-scarring middle school mocking.
Hey! It's Marisa Tomei!
Also: Whitley + Dwayne Wayne 4EVA.
How this entry was ever deemed write-able is beyond me. Must end entry before I cause my entire friends list to die of boredom.

Basically I'm just sad about it being gone. AND you remember Ned & Stacey! Wasn't that a fab show? I wish it would come 'round in syndication again. That and Cupid. :)
