The question of the day: Where is my Verizon bill? I had mentally decided that it must be in the pile of miscellaneous mail on the nightstand, but after flipping through that, I have mentally decided that it must be somewhere else. But where?

Second question of the day: Does anyone out there have shampoo recommendations? I can be swayed to spend stupid amounts of money on hair care products if someone tells me a product is worth it, so the sky's the limit! I have thick, curly, non-color-treated hair, as an fyi. Any input is v. much appreciated.

you know, when I was single, I tried all the expensive shampoos, tried all kinds of stuff, and now that I'm old and poor ;) I just use Suave and can't notice a bit of difference. the key is, for me, that I don't use any styling products on my hair, so when I wash it, I only do the scalp, I don't rub shampoo all the way down my hair. And most of the time I don't even use conditioner--and it's nice and soft.

So, yeah. Not to sound like a commercial, but I love Suave. cheap and reliably decent.

I say the same thing. I use Suave and Dove shamppos and they work just as good as the expensive stuff in my opinion.

I use a line call Ouidad that is specifically for those with curly hair. I specifically use the Curl Quencher line, along with a little bit of Climate Control gel, and the deep conditioning treatment when I remember. When I first used the line I literally gasped at how great my hair looked when it had dried(naturally of course). Where before there had been a tendency to frizz, now I had pretty curls. If I do say so myself. *lol*

As do I, and echoing the advice above, I use Suave (coconut scented, for normal hair). If I splurge on anything, it's conditioners and product, because, as my hair dresser informs me, shampoo is really just for your scalp, conditioner is for your hair -- and if you have curly hair, in all likelihood you shouldn't not be using conditioner.

I like Suave's daily conditioners and Aussie 3-minute Miracle (which I will sometimes use as an everyday conditioner, even though I'm sure it's supposed to be used like once a week or something). And I use Tigi Bedhead's straightening gel (I forget exactly what it's called...it's a pretty translucent green color) for an every day product. It doesn't actually straighten unless you blow-dry, it just makes the curls manageable and glossy.

I like the V05 milks. Particularly the coconut one and the strawberry one.

But I've been using Dove shampoo plus conditioner to save myself a step and that's working out for me.

Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner works for me. I don't have thick hair but it's relatively curly. They've got different kinds of shampoos and conditioners for all sorts of hair types.

My shampoo is changeable. I'm currently using Tigi Bedhead Moisture Maniac, and I love it, but it came free with a bottle of one of their curly hair styling products. As much as I like the way it smells (green apples!), I will probably not repurchase it when it gets used up. Of course, I only use it once or twice a week.

I love L'Oreal CurlVive conditioners. And the styling schmutz I really love was Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier, but I can't find it anymore. KMS makes a product similar, which I'm using now. It's a thick lotion/paste thing. I smoosh it in and let my hair air dry.

My sister-in-law uses the Ouidad stuff mentioned above, she got her haircut there before her wedding, too. She says it's good for a while, but didn't like her second haircut there and the products are really expensive. She uses a combination of that stuff, Neutrogena, l'Occitane and Aveda products. She also loved the Catwalk schmutz, and we're both hoping it reappears at the place I used to buy it. (Mixing it up is always fun!)

Curly hair is hard!

That shampooing-only-the-scalp thing sounds brilliant! I just worry because I am such a product girl. I will probably try it anyway because it sounds so intriguing (do I have the coordination to shampoo only my scalp? It is a question).

And so many people seem to love Suave! I should try it again -- I bought a bottle when I was in high school and it made my hands break out in a rash, but it's been a while and whatever dye or fragrance it was that did it is probably gone now. Stupid sensitive skin.

The idea of curly hair drying naturally and inducing gasps of pleasure is almost enough to get me to pull out my credit card and make an order rightnow! If I dry my hair naturally, to get it to look anything other than flat on top and wide on the bottom I have to spend a fair amount of time shaking my head around upside down. If there is a product in a bottle that would replace such an action, I'm all over it!

I am so going out and buying that Tigi Bedhead stuff tomorrow - I've been going through a bunch of different products for my hair lately, and none have really worked (right now I'm using this Garnier Fructis thing, which is okay but not fabulous and, also, kind of creates this potent weird fruity smell between it and the Aussie shampoo & conditioner I'm using now).

Somehow my hairdresser neglected to give me the "shampoo is for scalps" talk. I had no idea! She also told me I was using too much conditioner when I first went to see her (v. possible, because I love conditioner), and so I've been cutting back, and the more I type this rambling sentence, the more I suspect that I'm probably just not conditioning enough.

Those shampoo-plus-conditioner deals always look so appealing, but I always worry that they don't really work. Good to hear at least this one does! Will have to try it out.

Oh, I loved Herbal Essences back when I was in college! I stopped using them because I felt like my hair kind of got used to them (prob. just a lot of buildup, or me just getting bored), which was when I moved on to Pantene. And from there to John Freida and to my current shampoo, Aussie. May have to try it again!

Curly hair is hard! But it's good that there are lots of people around to offer support and suggestions to we curl-challenged people.

It works for me because I have long hair. I don't know how easy it'd be to do with curly hair. the nice thing about just trying suave is that you can usually find it for a buck a bottle at target. I hate trying new products and spending beaucoup bucks on them, only to have to toss it.
