What is it with the cats and the drinking out of the glass of water? This is such an ingrained habit in Chester that he won't drink out of anything else anymore; I finally broke down and now he has a special glass by the bed that I keep for him to drink out of. It's like a bowl, but it's a glass!
I heard on a nature show once that large, wild cats, like lions, tigers, etc. always seek out the freshest water supply they can find. That water's usually moving, which is why they enjoy streams and the like. So maybe that's still ingrained in the domestic cat; maybe that's why they love the whole drinking out of glasses and from a running tap of water (my personal favorite).
Or else they just think they're human and/or that they're AT LEAST as good as we are, so of course they deserve to drink out of the same recepticle as the lowly humans. :)
